Special Olympics
Figure Skating Program - Montgomery County
Olympic figure skating is a sport in which individuals, or pairs perform spins, jumps, footwork and other intricate and challenging moves on ice skates. Figure skaters compete at various levels from Skills, Singles, Pairs, Ice Dance, and Unified Sports (Ice Dance and Synchronized Skating) at local, national, and international competitions.
The Figure Skating Program in Montgomery County is supported by the Philadelphia Skate Club and Humane Society.
The program takes place during the “Winter Sports” offering, starting in September and wrapping up in March.
Annually, there is a statewide competition (the Indoor Winter Games) that are attended by athletes from Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia
